On Thursday, New York State Police announced the arrest of Cortlandt resident Charles Leonard, who is facing a host of charges after being involved in an incident with investigators on Sept. 12 in the area.
According to police, during a traffic stop on Sept. 12, Leonard intentionally struck two marked State Police units, and was subsequently taken into custody.
At the time of his arrest, Leonard was found in possession of 27.9 grams of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash. A search warrant executed at Leonard’s house led to the recovery of 33.7 more grams of cocaine and a loaded Glock 26 9mm gun was seized.
Leonard, 44, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
Following his arraignment, Leonard was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
